Android Hits High: 1 Billion Smartphones Shipped in 2014

Here’s a report from StrategyAnalytics that states that 1 Billion Smartphones were shipped in 2014. It marks the biggest sales figure for an Operating System.

The firm said that Android had a massive 81 percent share of all smartphone shipments in 2014, which totaled 1.3 billion units. In 2013 global smartphone shipments reached 1 billion total but last year in 2014 only Android did it alone. That’s now a big Achievement!

According to Strategy Analytics, “emerging markets, such as China and Indonesia, drove the industry’s growth last year and will continue to do so through 2015.”

iOS had a a15% share in the smartphone market with the shipment of 192.7 million iOS smartphones globally making it a distant second place. On third, it is Windows Phone with market share of 3%.

So we can guess Android is going well and we hope this trend continues in 2015 also.
