Google to Focus on Glass 2, Halts Sale of Google Glass

Google announced to discontinue the sale of experimental first version of Google Glass. Google Glass was launched at CES 2015 and went for sale in UK for 1,000 pounds last week. January 19 is the last date to get this Glass Explorer edition. We will sooner be able to see new versions of Google Glass that will be more user friendly.


Company Officials said that – “January 19 will be the last day to get the Glass Explorer Edition. In the meantime, we’re continuing to build for the future, and you’ll start to see future versions of Glass when they’re ready”. Nicky Danino, a senior lecturer in computing at the University of Central Lancashire said that company released the product before it was expected and major disappointment with the product was less number of applications.

Google Glass comes with technology of OHMD – optical head-mounted display. Google will now have its own division for Glass project which will be headed by its current manager Ivy Ross, a report from ‘The Times’ revealed.

Concept is Google Glass is a powerful one and hence should not be dismissed lightly. This wearable technology delivers messages, news and calls directly to a user’s field of view. Several major companies have tested Glass, with airline Virgin Atlantic using the device with their upper class passengers to manage flight details and organise transfers.
