MediaTek Claims 2 Million Android One Smartphones To Be Sold In India

The Micromax Canvas A1 Android One based smartphone which was launched two days ago is already out of stock on the online retailer Amazon. While we are not complaining about Amazon’s services the fact that it went out of stock in just two days shows people’s interest in the recently launched Android One smartphones.

The budget smartphone which are a result of Google’s collaboration with three Indian smartphone manufacturers namely Micromax,Karbonn and Spice have been launched only in India as of now and the response so far has been very good. So good that it prompted Mohit Bhushan from MediaTek to announce that they are expecting about 2 million android one smartphone to be sold by the end of this year. The figure does not seen much when compared to other flagship smartphone sales but considering the smartphone’s prove and the fact that it has only been launched in India as of now, the 2 million figures sure seems impressive.

MediaTek has been providing the three smartphone manufacturers with the Cortex-A7 chips that they use in the android one smartphones. While these smartphone don’t offer the best features out there, they run the latest version of android and coming from Google also means they will also be receiving the latest updates like the Nexus devices.
