New Galaxy S21 FE variant (SM-G990U2/U3) arrives on FCC, with 5G support

Just after the news of Samsung abandoning the Galaxy FE smartphones, a new Galaxy S21 FE variant is spotted on FCC. The listing confirms minor details of the device, but it could be the alleged cheaper Samsung Galaxy S21 FE smartphone. Bearing model numbers SM-G990U2 and SM-G990U3, the new S21 FE  variants will come with support for NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band Wifi and Wireless Charging.

The listing confirms support for the 25W TA-800 charging Adapter. Unlike previous rumours, the device comes with 5G support as several 5G bands are part of the listing.

A recent report from Galaxy Club cites the presence of a new Galaxy S21 FE variant. However, the details believed to be in the above report seems to differ from the FCC listing. The listing confirms the presence of a 5G supported device, whereas the previous report cites the presence of only 4G connectivity. Moreover, the device model number appears to be different from the one (SM-G990B2) which is listed on Bluetooth SIG.

Moreover, it cites a new version that includes the Snapdragon 720G processor instead of the Snapdragon 888 or Samsung’s own Exynos 2100. Other details could include a 6.4-inch FHD+ display, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, a triple camera setup with two 12MP shooters and an 8MP sensor, a 32MP selfie camera, and a 4,500mAh battery.

It is unclear at the moment whether the device is the new cheapest version of the Galaxy S21 FE or something else.
