As the co-founder of Android, Andy Rubin was one of the most important figures in the development of modern smartphones. First and foremost, the Essential Phone is absolutely stunning to look at. Its pared-down design eschews logos and branding in favor of a sleek and technical look.

Specifications

Processor: It is powered by a 2.45 GHz Octa – core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor clubbed with Adreno 540 GPU.

RAM: 4 GB

Internal storage: It comes with 128 GB of internal memory which is non-expandable.

Display: It comes with a 5.7-inch LTPS display. It comes with an unusual 19:10 aspect ratio instead of the regular 16:9 and a 2560 x 1312 pixel resolution which is sort of border-line Quad – HD.

Camera: It sports a dual camera system on the rear consisting of two 13-megapixel sensors wherein one is standard R G B while the other is monochrome. The dual camera system, because it has a monochrome sensor, is able to take in more light and should theoretically aid in better low light photos.

Software and connectivity: The dual-SIM Essential phone runs an unspecified version of Android and will support Andy Rubin’s home-grown version of a smart/virtual assistant. The assistant on-board will take on the likes of Apple’s Siri, Google’s Assistant, Microsoft’s Cortana and Amazon’s Alexa in the days to come. It supports 4 G LTE, Bluetooth 5.0 and USB Type-C for charging and data syncing. The Essential phone doesn’t come with a 3.5 mm audio jack though.

Battery: The phone is backed by a 3040 mAh battery and supports fast-charging.

Pricing and availability: Rubin’s Essential phone has been launched in the US at a price of $699 which roughly translates to Rs 45097.

Software

  • Operating System OS => Every computer system run on a base software called Operating System (OS). Operating System controls all basic operations of the computer (such as smartphone, PDAs, tablet computers and other handheld devices). The Operating System allows the user to install and run third party applications (apps), apps are used to add new functionality to the device.
    Android 7.1 Nougat

Hardware

  • Chipset Chipset is a group of integrated circuits designed to perform one or a more dedicated functions, often with real time computing constraints, Popular smartphones are equipped with more advanced embedded chipsets that can do many different tasks depending on their programming.
    Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835
  • CPU CPU (Central Processing Unit) mostly known as processors, CPU processes instructions in order to carry out certain functions that make your device operate properly. Processors are often described as the brain of computers, smartphones and tablets, Smartphones and tablets rely on processors to carry out their every task, Processors are an incredibly important factor in selecting any type of computing device, including your smartphone.
    Octa-core (4x2.45 GHz Kryo & 4x1.9 GHz Kryo)
  • GPU GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) is a single-chip processor designed to rapidly manipulate and alter memory to accelerate the creation of images in a frame buffer intended for output to a display, This includes things such as lighting effects, object transformations, and 3D motion.
    Adreno 540
  • RAM (Memory) RAM (Random Access Memory) is a type of computer memory that can be accessed randomly, any byte of memory can be accessed without touching the preceding bytes that allows information to be stored and accessed quickly from random locations. RAM is the most common type of memory found in computer systems, smartphones, tablets and other electronic devices.
