Android Distribution: Kitkat Runs On 1.1% Devices; Jelly Bean Counts 34%

Here are December Android Distribution figures indicating Kitkat Carving Out a just little with 1.1% share. The Jelly Bean versions of Android (4.1-4.3) account for 54.5 percent of the platform, according to the latest Developer Dashboard figures.

Gingerbread is still holding on with 24 percent, down from 26 percent just a month ago. Honeycomb meanwhile is sticking at a negligible 0.1%, while ICS has dropped 1.2% to 18.6% from last month.

Indeed, the latest release of Android will likely grow quickly as devices such as the Moto X are already seeing their respective software updates. Other handset makers are already promising the KitKat in the near term so things could move quicker than normal.
