Android Lollipop Alpha For OnePlus One

OnePlus One came into the market with excellent specs and Cyanogen but that didn’t worked in the favor of the company with the ban that came soon after, thanks to an exclusive deal between Cyanogen and Micromax. OnePlus One was banned in India for good after the deal between Micromax and Cyanogen but after a week or so it was removed but they lost the support from Cyanogen and Indian users of OnePlus One couldn’t get any further updates.

All this made the company start its own software developing and came up with Android Lollipop Alpha which is completely independent from Cyanogen and will develop under the control of the company itself. The build is still in its early stages and contains a lot of bugs but neither the less its the much needed freedom that the company wanted.

The steps to install the ROM is available on the official site of the OnePlus with the download link also provided there. It will be available to the general users once its bugs are being dealt with and a stable ROM is generated. The known issues related with the ROM are:

  • Data roaming is on by default. Make sure to turn if off to avoid potential charges.
  • As always, flashing a custom ROM incurs the risk of bricking your phone. Make sure you know what you’re doing and backup everything.
  • Camera and video may be unstable. This build supports 4k video, however quality may be low as we are still fine-tuning the camera.
  • Capacitive keys do not turn off when you enable software keys.
  • Clock crashes periodically.
  • If using the new app pinning feature in L, make sure to turn on the software keys first. Otherwise, you will have to reboot your machine.
  • On first boot, startup time will be a bit slow. Rest assured we will speed things up in the future.
  • Wi-Fi may be unstable.
  • This build is not eligible for OTA updates.

Bugs or not, its a start and is a New Year Gift to all the users out there. So if you are interested in having the ROM and using it first hand, directly go to the site by using the source link given below.
