Asus ZenFone 3 Max starts receiving Android 7.1.1 Nougat update

Slowly and steadily, Android Nougat is being rolled out by major OEMs to their eligible devices. As a result, the list of Android phones being updated to latest version of Android is getting weightier. Latest addition to this list is a mid-ranger from Asus, the Asus Zenfone 3 Max, which has recently started receiving Android 7.1.1 Nougat update.

Asus has rolled out the OTA update and said that it could take about one week for all users to receive the update. In the meantime, users can also check for updates by tapping Settings> About> System Update. This is to note that the update is being currently rolled out to ZenFone 3 Max (ZC553KL), however, release notes also mention Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe (ZS550KL).

While Nougat update brings a lot of features and enhancements to get excited for, Asus release notes state that the update also brings better touch performance, addition of bundled notifications, switch and removal of redundant apps like Asus Share and PC Suite amongst others. Therefore, Asus users should expect this major update to bring a lot of tweaks and tricks.

This being a sizable update, ASUS asks users to free up at least 1.5GB of space on their phone to install the update and that users should also backup their data. You will also need a reliable Wi-Fi connection and need to charge your device to at least 80 percent before installing the update.

In the meantime, if you already received the update, please let us know— How Nougat is treating you?
