HMD Global starts rolling out Android Oreo to Nokia 8

Few weeks back, HMD Global started Beta Labs for the Nokia 8. To be clear, it is a program which delivered Beta Oreo update for registered users. And now, Juho Sarvikas, the Chief Product Officer of HMD Global tweeted that they started rolling out the stable Oreo update for every users. He also added that Nokia 5 and 6 will be next in the line for Beta Labs.

For those who do not know, Android Oreo brings picture in picture mode, instant apps,better RAM management, project Treble, better battery performance, adaptive icons, 60 new emojis and other under the hood features. Also, HMD Global is providing close to stock Android Oreo. Hence, the experience will be similar to the one on the Google’s Pixel 2 duo.

As the update is being rolled out via OTA, it might take time to hit your device. Therefore, be patient as your device will receive the update sooner or later. In case if you want to check for the update, head over to system update in the about phone section of settings.

Nokia 8 Specifications

To recall, Nokia 8 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. On the front it features a 5.3 inches QHD LCD display with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. For optics, it has dual camera setup on the back consisting of RGB and monochrome sensors. Both the sensors are of 13MP with OIS on the RGB sensor. The secondary camera on the front is an another 13MP snapper. The best thing about these cameras is that one can click pictures and shoot videos from both the front and rear camera cameras at the same time.

Nokia calls it ‘bothie’ and it is one of the selling point of this device. Further, it is IP54 certified (splash proof) and is backed by a 3,090 mAH battery. The good thing about this device is that it comes with headphone jack and Nokia OZO 360° audio recording.
