Latest Bixby 2.0 update brings Google apps support back in action

Bixby – the Samsung’s own digital voice assistant and the associated services have received mixed reviews ever since its release. While some appreciate its multiple commands processing capability, others refute it for its sluggish performance in decoding the user inputs. Late in August, during the announcement of the Galaxy Note9, Samsung introduced the 2.0 of the Bixby with improved natural voice processing prowess. However, during the process of refinement, Samsung removed certain useful features such as support for Google apps.

Now it seems Samsung realized the mistake and has come up with an update for the Bixby 2.0 bringing back the Google apps support. The latest Bixby 2.0 update bearing version 2.0.52 lets you do the works done using Bixby on compatible Google apps such as YouTube, Gmail, GMaps etc. For instance, just summon the Bixby and say “Play the most trending videos on YouTube” – Bixby will do the rest. How easy it is isn’t it?

The Bixby 2.0.52 update is available for the Galaxy Note9 on Galaxy App Store. We expect the same update to be available on Galaxy S9/S9+ as well and probably for the 2017 Note and S flagships too. If you’d missed the Google apps support ever since the Bixby 2.0 came into the wild, it’s the time to get back the feature. That said, what’s your general view on Samsung Bixby – pen down what you think should be improved and what should be removed as it’s of no common use.
