Samsung And Apple Reduce Patent Claims By 50% For July 30 Trial Date in US

Samsung and Apple filed motions to reduce asserted patent claims by up to 50%. Judge Lucy Koh told both companies during a recent case management meeting that the number of asserted claims was far too large, and needs to be reduced. The purpose of cutting the claims was to keep a proposed July 30 trial date for the companies’ first US lawsuit over their mobile device patent disputes.

“In a joint statement filed Tuesday in preparation for Wednesday’s conference, Apple and Samsung each had offered to drop some patents and claims from the case but said lack of cooperation from the other side prevented greater streamlining,” according to reports.

So let’s see on July 30 what happens on that day.
