Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) and A5 (2017) receives October security patch

Samsung started rolling out the October security patches to its smartphones. The first devices to receive it are the Galaxy A5 (2016) and Galaxy A5 (2017) . The update is now rolling out in the Netherlands for the Galaxy A5 (2017) and soon it will hit the other regions. The update for the A5 (2016) is not live yet.

Other Galaxy lineup of smartphones will too receive the update soon. Because, Samsung had stated earlier this month that the October patch will bring fixes for 215 vulnerabilities found in Android. And the six out of those vulnerabilities are exclusive to Samsung’s software. It is quite a surprise that Samsung delivered this patch to the mid rangers instead of their flagships.

To check whether the update is available for your device, go to Software update and select Download updates manually. Do not worry if it is not available as the update is rolling out in the phase.

To add up, Samsung is offering the Galaxy A5 (2017) at a discounted price of Rs. 17,990 down from Rs. 24,500 in India ahead of Diwali festival. Customers can also avail one time screen replacement offer with Samsung Never Mind Offer.
