[Update: April 2022 Security Patch] Samsung Galaxy A70/70s Update Tracker

Samsung officially launched the Galaxy A70 and A70s a couple of years back with Snapdragon 675 SoC. The smartphone runs Android 9.0 (Pie) out of the box paired with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. It features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display. There’s a triple rear camera consisting of a 32MP primary sensor and a 32MP selfie shooter for Galaxy A70. While the only difference in Galaxy A70s is the 64MP leading rear camera.

  • [June 7, 2022]: Samsung is spinning off the April 2022 security patch to the Galaxy A70s via a new software update. Arriving on firmware version A707FDDS3CVD1, the build is rolling out in India. Other countries could get access to the update within the next few days.
  • [April 1, 2022]: The carrier-locked model of the Galaxy A70 in the US is getting the March 2022 security patch. The update is rolling out on the Comcast network with firmware version A705USQS2DVC1.
  • [March 20, 2022]: The Samsung Galaxy A70 has started receiving the March 2022 security patch update in the UAE. The new build comes with firmware version A705FNXXU5DVB3 and fixes many vulnerabilities to improve the overall experience.
  • [November 25, 2021]: The Galaxy A70s is receiving the October 2021 security patch. Currently, the update is available in India on firmware version A707FDDS3CUJ1. The patch fixes more than 60 vulnerabilities related to privacy and security. Also, it might bring some general bug fixes and device stability improvements.
  • [October 6, 2021]: The Galaxy A70 has started to receive the month-old security patch, September 2021. The update is rolling out via the firmware version A705FXXU5DUI3. The patch fixes over 40 vulnerabilities related to privacy and security. Besides, it brings some usual bug fixes and stability improvements as well.
  • [July 14, 2021]: July 2021 Android security patch is rolling out for the Galaxy A70 smartphone in Brazil. The fresh update is arriving on Claro’s network via firmware version A705MNXXU5DUF2. Though, it will have a wider rollout in the upcoming week. According to Samsung’s documentation, the July patch resolved almost 20 privacy vulnerabilities. Plus, it addresses the much-reported Android Auto bug.
  • [May 21, 2021]: Samsung is releasing May 2021 security patch to the Galaxy A70. The new software is rolling out with a build number A705FNXXU5DEU2 in Ukraine, while other regions will also get a hit soon. The changelog also mentions improvement in file sharing over Quick Share. The major change after flashing the update is that it brings support for 360 Audio over Galaxy Buds Pro. To be more precise, “this is a surround sound feature that works on the Galaxy Buds Pro and replicates multi-dimensional sound with Dolby Head Tracking to provide “theater-like” sound.”
  • [April 28, 2021]: Samsung has begun refreshing the Galaxy A70s smartphone to the most recent April 2021 Security Patch. The update can be recognized on the firmware version A707FXDX3CUD1, and it weighs 154.72MB. Right now, the update is turning out to the Indian users, and we can expect a more extensive delivery quickly. You can read more here.

As usual, the OTA update is having a staged rollout. You can either wait for a pop-up notification regarding the new build or check it manually. To give it a self-check, head over to the Settings app > Software update and tap on Download and install. Also, we suggest you switch over to a WiFi network before downloading the update to avoid data charges.
