Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, and S6 Edge+ gets November security updates in Canada

Samsung has started rolling out a new software update for Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, and S6 Edge+ in Canada. This latest update brings November security patch to Galaxy S6 family. For Galaxy S6, the update comes with build number G920W8VLS5DQK1 while S6 edge and S6 edge+ are updated with new build numbers G925W8VLS5DQK1 and G928W8VLS4CQK1 respectively. Once you download and install the latest update on these devices, it upgrades them to November 1, 2017 security patch level.

This update only brings in the latest security patches along with some bug fixes and therefore, you shouldn’t expect any major changes. The update is currently being rolled to Galaxy S6 devices in Canada by carriers including Bell, Telus, SaskTel, and Virgin Mobile and will reach to other markets very soon.

The firmware update bring fixes to 61 Android vulnerabilities, six of which are specific for Samsung devices, along with KRACK Wi-Fi exploit. If you’re a Canadian Galaxy S6, S6 Edge or S6 Edge+ user, you should expect the update to soon hit your device, if not already.

If you don’t see the notification arriving on your device in the next few days, you can choose to manually download the update by heading to Settings > Software update. As always, don’t forget to sufficiently charge your device and make sure you’re connected to a trusted Wi-Fi device.
