[Update: Goes official] Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 5G launch seems imminent

Samsung announced the Galaxy Tab S6 back in July of 2019. The high-end Android tablet comes in WiFi and 4G variants. But now since 5G is expanding to more cities in countries across the world, the company may soon launch a 5G variant of the said tablet according to listings on Bluetooth SIG and WiFi Alliance.

High-end Android tablets are nothing but dead, however, Samsung and Huawei have been pushing premium tablets running Android every year. Last year, the South Korean tech giant launched the Galaxy Tab S6 in its long-running Galaxy Tab S series of tablets powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855. It comes with all the features you can expect from a tablet including support for S-Pen and a gorgeous AMOLED display, which is not even present on the world’s most powerful tablet, the Apple iPad Pro. Anyways, the lack of optimized android apps for tablets badly hurt the design and hardware of the Galaxy Tab S6.

Having said that, there is still some market for Android tablets and therefore OEMs like Samsung are launching new models every year. Now since there is still time to refresh the current generation Galaxy Tab S6, Samsung could be launching a 5G variant of the same tablet for the time being. It will go by the name of Galaxy Tab S6 5G with model number SM-T866N as per its listing on Bluetooth SIG and WiFi Alliance. The latter listing also reveals it to run Android 9.0 Pie operating system when Android 11 beta is just around the corner. As for specifications, we expect it to be similar to that of the WiFi and 4G editions of the tablet. In other words, apart from support for 5G connectivity, it will be essentially the same tablet from mid-2019.

If you are looking to buy the Galaxy Tab S6 5G, we are sorry to say this particular model will be sold only in South Korea. Maybe, there will be a model for the US and Europe but that one has not surfaced on the listings yet.
