To recall, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Watch 5 series in August 2022. The series includes Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. Both the watches were running on One UI Watch 4.5 OS out of the box.
Samsung unveiled its Galaxy Watch 5 series in an unpacked event held in August. The Verizon units of Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro have started receiving a new update. The 45mm Galaxy Watch 5 Pro features the firmware version R925USQU1AVH2. In contrast, the Galaxy Watch 5 has firmware version R905USQU1AVH2 for 40mm and R915USQU1AVH2 for 44mm. The update is rolling out as Over the Air (OTA) and will take time to reach all units.
The update fixes an issue where the user couldn’t receive Wireless Emergency Alert messages. The issues occurred when the message contained more than 255 characters. Samsung has fixed it for both Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro. Both Galaxy Watch 5 series watches have a Super AMOLED display, 1.5GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, LTE, Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi, NFC, and GPS/ Glonass/ Beidou/ Galileo.
