Xiaomi introduces Redmi K20 and K20 Pro with 48MP primary camera, pop-up selfie cam

Today, Xiaomi has introduced Redmi K20 series in China with the launch of Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro. Slated as “Flagship Killer 2.0” both devices come packed with some high-end specs that include 48MP primary cameras, OLED displays with in-display fingerprint scanners and pop-up selfie cameras. With Xiaomi’s persistent aggressive pricing tactics, the new devices should be giving a tough competition to other OEMs around.

While Redmi K20 and K20 Pro are quite similar in most of the specs, the only major difference is the chipset powering the devices. The Redmi K20 is powered by Snapdragon 730 processor, while the K20 Pro sports flagship Snapdragon 855 SoC. The Redmi K20 Pro comes in four variants – 6GB RAM + 64GB, 6GB RAM + 128GB, 8GB RAM + 128GB and 8GB RAM + 256GB. On the other hand, the Redmi K20 is available in two variants only with 6GB RAM + 64GB and 6GB RAM + 128GB.

In the display segment, both devices share the same 6.39-inches OLED panel with minimum bezels, FHD+ resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Redmi K20 Pro and Redmi K20 pack triple rear cameras that include 48MP main cameras with Sony IMX586 sensor and IMX582 sensor respectively, 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and 8MP telephoto lens. The smartphones flaunt 20MP pop-up selfie cameras with 960fps slow-mo video recording and AI capabilities.

Both smartphones pack the same 4,000 mAh battery with support for fast charging. While Redmi K20 Pro comes with 27W fast charging capabilities, the Redmi K20 supports 18W fast charging. In the software territory, the handsets run Android 9 Pie with MIUI 10 on top.

The connectivity features include dual 4G LTE support, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, A-GPS, NFC, USB Type-C port, and 3.5mm audio jack supporting Hi-Fi audio. For gaming enthusiasts, the Redmi K20 offers Game Turbo 2.0 that allocates resources for gaming.

Just like its other smartphones, Xiaomi has priced the smartphones quite aggressively. Redmi K20 is priced at CNY1,999 for the 6GB RAM + 64GB variant and CNY2,099 for the 6GB RAM + 128GB variant. Redmi K20 Pro is a bit pricier with the base variant, 6 GB RAM+ 64 GB costing CNY2,499, 6GB RAM + 128GB RAM at CNY2,599, 8GB RAM + 128GB at CNY2,799 and the top-end model with 8GB RAM + 256GB prices at CNY2,999.

The devices will be made available via flash sale in China that starts June 1 at 10 AM.
