Android Oreo promised for HTC U11, HTC U Ultra and HTC 10

While a sizeable population across the world is clamoring over Android Nougat updates for their Android phones, Android Oreo is going live for Pixel and some Nexus devices. Remember, even now Nougat only has a 15% share of the Android pie at best. Since Android Oreo is official, more OEMs should be making their plans for the new update public soon. HTC has usually been first to state such things.

The Taiwanese giant has in an answer to a question said that the HTC U11, the HTC U Ultra and the HTC 10 would all get the update to Android Oreo worldwide. The Q&A took place on Twitter. While, this is an official tweet, it is more of an answer to a question instead of an exclusive initial post.

Also, there are no hard lines or dates here. So HTC isn’t putting it’s neck on the line. Furthermore, all the devices mentioned are flagships, so it’s no surprise they will be getting Android Oreo.

However, the HTC 10 is last year’s flagship which shipped with Marshmallow. Technically, it should get the second update too (it’s on Nougat now) but there are no guarantees.

HTC raised eyebrows when it announced it would provide updates to the latest OS within 90 days. And more or less, it has kept to its promise. Although, we would be more enthused to see some clear roadmap and numbers.
