Google Maps Location Sharing now Displays a contact’s Battery Level

Google has a famous Maps platform to find locations and they often update it with the fresh set of features. The location sharing feature on it is available from ages but it uses to work differently compared to its current state. The feature was earlier shifted to the Google+ platform, however, last year it made its comeback to the Maps application. Location sharing is a very helpful pre-embedded feature. As per some fresh information a user would now be able to view the battery percentage of the user another side. So let’s dive a little deep into it.

As revealed by the source Androidpolice, Google Maps platform can now even show the battery percentage of the user sharing his/her location. According to them, they came across something similar a long time back in the Maps application teardown. At that time we were expecting that it will provide a user with approximate battery levels. Google has proved the old rumors wrong as this feature works in a live manner.

Google Maps Battery Status

It simply means whatever battery percentage a person’s device is having will be delivered to the person checking his/her location. There is a small icon beside the battery percentage and it shows the current status of the battery, like charging/not charging.

There is no manual option to switch on/off this feature and it seems more like a server-side offering. We are yet to test it, however, in Android Police’s test it worked super fine without any issues. If you haven’t received it yet then consider upgrading Maps app to the latest version.
