LG set to embrace OLED panels for the upcoming LG V30

OLED screens are set to go mainstream this year with flagship phones. As big guns like Apple are jumping ship in a bid to entertain users with better and brighter screens. Now, we hear, LG is planning to use it with the same displays for the upcoming LG V30. Earlier, we heard that LG itself was pouring investments into OLED manufacturing facilities. The company is also an exclusive supplier of OLED panels for the next hot iPhone 8.

The next gen panels called OLED Full Vision are expected to be 6-inches in size and 0.3 inches bigger than last year’s flagship, the V20. Even then its footprint will be much smaller than it. Also, LG will be trimming down the bezels a bit more to the tune of 20% and 50% from the top and bottom respectively. The glass on the top will also be curved apparently on four sides, although not as extreme as the Galaxy S8.

LG last used the OLED panels for the G Flex in 2013 and the G Flex 2 in 2015. But, ever since then this is a first flagship to go all out with the panels. Among other rumors, the phone is also expected to have an industry leading camera sensor with f/1.6 aperture. The phone will be unveiled at the IFA Berlin 2017 event on August 31.
