MediaTek to Release 6-8 Tablet CPUs in 2014, Plans to Ship 20 Million Processors

So we have a report here where Digitimes says that MediaTek is going to release 6-8 tablets in the coming year. Unlike the 4 launched this year the next one’s will have much price variation that will get different kind of people to buy the tablets. The company will be releasing octa-core, quad-core and dual-core models, which will target high-end, mid-range and entry-level tablets respectively.

“The 8-core CPUs are being developed for high-end large-size tablets that will compete with notebook models, while the quad- and dual-core tablet CPUs are likely to be incorporated into wireless chips in order to compete with large-size smartphones,” Digitimes noted in its report citing industry sources.

The company is also expected to ship 20 million units of the tablets including the MT8283 & MT8389 models which were released a few months back. As introducing mid range budget and high end expensive tablets MediaTek is watching its way through success and getting its targets the next year.
