As for changes, it adds a new slideshow-style story feature in the Gallery app and animations are improved. Also, there are some UI tweaks in the wallpaper selection screen. [Update: August 9, 2022]: Samsung has extended the availability for the One UI 5.0 beta. This time, the version is also available for users in the United States.
The original story follows below… [August 5, 2022]
As of now, it is limited to users in Germany and South Korea, while more regions will add to the list in the coming days.
Needless to say, One UI 5.0 beta is on top of the Android 13 update. The users in Germany can flash the build with firmware version S90xBXXU2ZHV4. The version will bring along a lot of UI changes and enriched features. However, the company is yet to detail everything it ships with. We expect the brand to make it all official at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event.
Although luckily, some leaks have already revealed how Samsung has boxed up One UI 5.0. To begin with, the notifications icon and design are upgraded with a new style along with tweaks in shade and quick settings. In addition, there are new multi-tasking gestures to make the experience more convenient. There’s a new feature known as OCR (Optical Character Recognition). It allows the user to copy text from an image and keyboard.
Moreover, the app permission pop-up menu will render the same design as stock Android 13. Also, the animation speed is improved, making the transitions more smooth. On top, it will take care of your privacy by keeping all of your accounts, passwords, security, and privacy features on one screen.
As mentioned, these are just the ones that managed to sneak out of the box. There will be more features, including UI changes, improvements in stock apps, and other modifications.
