Opera Browser for Android gets crypto wallet integration

For months Opera has been beta testing the inbuilt crypto wallet feature on its browser for Android. As some of you know or have tried in the previous beta releases, the crypto wallet facilitates browsing of Web 3 apps (DApps) or sending/receiving cryptocurrency directly through the browser. Finally, the service is making its way to the stable Opera browser for Android.

The latest Opera browser v49.0 update is a significant update to the browser. Apart from the integration of Crypto-Wallet, some under the hood changes are on the table. The update changelog reveals the following improvements.

What’s New

Thanks for choosing Opera! In this version, we are introducing our integrated Crypto Wallet (Android 6.0 and up). Try out the future of browsing by exploring the world of Web 3 apps (DApps) or sending/receiving cryptocurrency directly in your Opera browser.

More changes:

  • Improvements to the download dialog
  • Easy access to page-specific security information and site settings
  • Chromium70

Going a little deep into the Opera’s Crypto-Wallet integration. The company has gone for the Ethereum Web3 API for Dapps. Which implies, plenty of Dapps out there should be supported by Crypto-Wallet. Opera has also provided a useful Dapp discovery method called “Dapp Explorer”.

As far as other under the hood optimizations are considered, the latest version has got an updated Chromium base. To be precise the latest Chromium 70. Also slight improvements are made to the download dialog and access to the security/site settings.
