Xiaomi is of the most successful Chinese companies, especially in the smartphone segment. Though the company is not present in most of the western countries, it still ranks in the top 5 in terms of devices shipped. The secret behind their success is great phones at a more affordable price than the competitors. Now, to up their game, Xiaomi is about to announce their first smartphone with a 48MP camera.
Earlier this year, Xiaomi established an in-house camera division to improve the camera performance on their smartphones. And now, half a year later, Xiaomi’s president Lin Bin teases an unknown phone with a whopping 48MP camera. The above teaser image of the unknown Xiaomi phone was posted on Weibo, China’s most used micro-blogging site.
As of now, there are only two 48MP image sensor for smartphones. The first one is Sony IMX586 which was announced back in July. The second one is Samsung ISOCELL Bright GM1 which was announced just back in October. Thus, this upcoming unknown Xiaomi smartphone might feature one of these two image sensors. This is only a speculation and hence take it with a pinch of salt.
