Qualcomm announces Snapdragon 780G 5G SoC built on 5nm process

Qualcomm announces a brand new Snapdragon 780g 5G chipset in their 700 series. The new Mobile chipset is built by Samsung and comes with major improvements in CPU, GPU, and other sections.

The new processor details were released via a press release. However, the company didn’t reveal anything about it via its social media channels.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 780G 5G SoC is a 5nm Octa-core chipset with two Cortex A78 cores clocked at 2.4 GHz and six Cortex A55 clocked at 1.08 GHz. On the GPU front, it comes with Adreno 642 supporting True 10-bit HDR gaming and smooth gaming. It is the first processor in the 700 series to come with a triple ISP, Spectra 570, providing simultaneous use of three cameras at once.

The processor comes with new low light architecture for better photos in low light conditions, also it supports 4K HDR and HDR 10+ video recording capability. The processor comes with a 6th Gen AI Engine, Hexagon 770 performing twice the previous ones.

On the Network section of the chipset, it comes with Snapdragon X53 5G modem-RF System giving download speeds up to 3.3 Gbps on sub 6GHz frequencies. The processor features Qualcomm Fastconnect 6900 and WiFi 6 with speeds up to 3.6 Gbps. It also provides sound Technology, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.2.

From the spec sheet, Snapdragon 780g 5G could be Qualcomm’s top performer in the 700 series. In brief, the chipset features many similarities to the flagship Snapdragon 888, thus providing better performance in multiple areas.
