Realme’s next flagship will be called X50 Pro

Realme will be making its maiden debut at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) with at least two devices. One of which will be the company’s next flagship smartphone, the Realme X50 Pro, the successor to merely four months old Realme X2 Pro. The second device in question is expected to be the global version of Realme X50.

Realme started as a sub-brand of Oppo, is now among the top 10 smartphone OEMs of the world as per market share. Initially, the brand launched smartphones in the entry-level to budget segment and that is still the primary segment for the company. However, lately, in the last quarter of 2019, the brand entered the premium segment with Realme X2 Pro, its first flagship smartphone. And now, within four months, the company is all set to unveil its successor, Realme X50 Pro at MWC 2020.

Earlier this week, Realme confirmed its presence at this year’s MWC but did not reveal anything about the devices it has planned to showcase. But after a few days, a Realme smartphone with model number RMX2071 was spotted on the AnTuTu benchmark app with a whopping score of 574,985, breaking the previous record of 560,217 set by Xiaomi Mi 10 / Pro. The listing also revealed the phone to sport Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC with Adreno 650 GPU. Anyways, the name of this mysterious device was still unknown.

Later, Xu Qi Chase, the CMO of Realme officially confirmed the company’s next flagship smartphone to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 and feature LPDDR5 RAM. But the name of the device was still not made public by any of the company executives. Surprisingly, a few hours later, Mr Chase shared a screenshot of the About phone section of their next flagship smartphone, revealing it to be called Realme X50 Pro. The screengrab also shed light on some of the primary specs of the device.

As per the screenshot, the Realme X50 Pro will run Realme UI v1.0 based on Android 10 and will have 12GB RAM paired with 256GB ROM. It will bear the model number RMX2071, which goes in line with the AnTuTu benchmark leak. That said, it will most probably come in more storage configurations as this particular variant seems to be the maxed-out version. Lastly, it will also have support for dual-mode 5G just like the Realme X50.
