BlackBerry Messenger Coming Soon to Android

The BlackBerry Messenger is probably the best feature of the Blackberry. And the revolution it started in the Messengers was quite exquisite. As it was the first, and at that time there were no Viber, Whatsapp and other messengers around. But however things have changed now. Yesterday at the company’s annual conference , the CEO announced that this trademark would be now available to the third party platforms such as Android and iOS.

For the start BBM will have features that are commonly used, such as BBM chats, multi-person chats, BlackBerry Groups, Voice Note sharing, and also sharing photos and files etc. “It’s time to bring BBM to a greater audience, no matter what mobile device they carry,” said BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins.

But the company however also said , that they would try hard to make the app to be fully featured for the third party platforms, with some new features such as Voice and Video Calls, Screen Share  and other channels, and these features would come on updates to the app.Talking about the BBM Channels, it is a new way to connect with business  brands and people they stalk to follow and subscribe to their updates.

It will run on at least Android 4.0 , i.e. Ice Cream Sandwhich.
