Google Play Store shows new “Country and profiles” option to some eligible users

Google has now come up with a new facility on the Google Play Store that ought to be a boon for the travelers. On some specific Google Play users, an additional option titled as “Country and profiles” is visible under Account settings of the Play Store. As the title points out, it enables the users to access the Google Play Store of other countries.

However, as earlier mentioned only few users that have met a pre-defined criteria laid down by Google will be lucky enough to see the new feature. That is, if a user have previously made a valid purchase using a valid payment method from a version of the Google Play Store belonging to a different country than the users native place. Then, he/she should see the feature popped-up on his/her Play Store account.

Hence, in case if you’re unable to see the option under Account settings. Then understand that you might haven’t fulfilled the criterion. Nevertheless, you can check whether you’re eligible for the facility by following simple steps.

  1. Open the Play Store app up on your device. Once the contents are loaded, head into the Account settings area of the Play Store. After that you should clicking on the hamburger menu at the top-left corner.
  2. Provided you’ve purchased an app or contents of different Play Store region previously with a valid payment for that country. Then you will be given a new option titled Country and profiles. If this option is available, tap into it. If not, the next time you visit a different country make sure to purchase a product.
  3. In the County and profile section, if available, the country that your current Play Store account will be chosen at default. Which will have a check in it to the right-hand side. You will also see a list of other countries which are available to you. All you need to do now is simply tap the available country that you want to switch to. And yes, you’ll be taken to the Play Store version specific to that country.

It’s obvious that, Google wants the feature to be accessibe only on the users that deserves it. Also, the chance of rolling-out the feature to every single user in future is almost null. Anyway, do let us know your views on the comment section below
