By the way, the dock search bar feature was replicated and added as a feature in Nova Launcher just recently. Now it seems a latest beta update to the launcher brings a new option for customizing the searchbar. That is, we’ll be now able to replace the search bar with another widget of our priority.
The latest beta build carrying the version number 5.5 Beta7 doesn’t pack any new features other than the customization to the searchbar. However, it do fixes some previous bugs and is now better optimised. Here goes the changelog of v5.5 beta 7.
Well, let us describe the new feature briefly. A Nova launcher user can replace the default searchbar to any widget of their likes. Provided, that the widget to be replaced is of 4×1. To do that, press the search bar, and tap “Replace”, then choose a different widget from the window.
Moreover, you can also get rid of the dock widget by heading to “Nova Settings > Dock > Search bar in dock”, and choosing any one of – “None”, “Above icons”, or “Below icons” options that pop-ups.
