Oppo A17 goes official with Helio G35 SoC and 5000 mAh battery

Oppo has added another budget offering to its A-series of smartphones. The latest Oppo A17 is official in Malaysia, while it can soon debut in other markets, including India as well. In the meantime, let’s take a look at the features, specifications, pricing, and other details of the latest Oppo handset.

In terms of design, the Oppo A17 has flat edges with fairly large bezels and a flat back with an attractive design. The device features a 6.56-inch LCD display with a water-drop notch cutout. The panel offers an HD+ resolution, a 60Hz refresh rate, and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage.

Under the helm, the device draws power from the MediaTek Helio G35 SoC. The chipset is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. For software, it runs Android 12 out of the box along with a layer of ColorOS 12.1 on top.

As far as the optics department is considered, the Oppo A17 carries a dual camera setup. The module consists of a 50MP primary unit and a 2MP sensor to measure depth. At the front, there’s a 5MP lens to capture selfies and video calls. The camera supports multiple features, including AI, 360 degrees Fill Light, Portrait Retouching, HDR, and more.

In addition to this, the company ships the smartphone with a 5000 mAh battery that charges over a micro USB port. Also, it is IPX4 rated, making it splash resistance.

Availability and Price

Oppo A17 retails in two color options: Lake Blue and Midnight Black. The phone costs MYR599 (~$130) for its sole 4GB/ 64GB storage configuration. The device is also available for pre-order in Singapore. However, the price in the country is still undercover.
