Samsung, Apple Allowed to Add New Devices To US Patent Lawsuit

Paul S Grewal, federal Judge of US District court has granted permissions to Samsung and Apple to add products or device to US patent lawsuit.  Judge of U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, San Jose division, in his order on also raised the possibility that Apple’s latest tablets may also be allowed to be added if Samsung requests their inclusion.

Representatives for both Apple and Samsung declined comment.

The decision came in a second patent lawsuit between the two mobile device giants pending in San Jose, California. In an earlier lawsuit that went to trial in July, a jury found that Samsung infringed six of seven Apple patents at issue and awarded $1.05 billion in damages.

This next round isn’t even due to reach trial until 2014, and at time of filing, included iPhones, iPads, and iPod touch models, versus 19 Samsung devices.
