Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold launched with large 8.01-inch folding display

A day after the fruitful release of the Mi 11 Series, Xiaomi has immediately launched its first foldable smartphone, which is named Mi MIX Fold. The company has finally launched the device after two years since Xiaomi first teased a foldable device. The new Mi Mix Fold is going to be a good competitor to the Samsung’s Galaxy Fold 2 smartphone.

Interestingly, the Mi Mix Fold comes with two displays – one with a single outer screen and the other one with a folding inner display. The smartphone sports an 8.01-inch WQHD inner display with 2480 x 1860 pixels of resolution and a 4:3 aspect ratio. The outer display measures 6.5-inch and comes with an OLED screen with 2520 x 840 pixels resolution, a 27:9 aspect ratio, and a 90Hz refresh rate.

The phone is powered by an flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Chipset. It is available in three variants for purchase – 12GB RAM + 256GB Storage variant, 12GB RAM + 512GB Storage model, and last but not least, 16GB RAM + 512GB internal storage.

In terms of the camera, the Mi Mix Fold features a triple rear camera that includes 108MP primary sensor, a 13MP 123-degree FOV ultra-wide lens, and an 8MP’ liquid lens’ that works well with a 3x optical zoom lens and a macro lens as well. As said by Xiaomi, with the liquid lens, the object can be focused faster and offer better White Balance at a higher level. Unfortunately, there’s no front camera available for this device.

On the top, the device runs Android 11 out of the box. Moreover, it packs a 5,020 mAh battery with 67W fast charging support. Some of the other features consist of quad stereo speakers, a ‘butterfly’ cooling system, etc. Interestingly, the phone is 27% lighter as it uses a U-shaped hinge.

Pricing and Availability

  • 12GB RAM + 256GB Storage variant – 9,999 yuan (around $1,521)
  • 12GB RAM + 512GB Storage model – 10,999 yuan ($1,670)
  • 16GB RAM + 512GB internal storage – 12,999 yuan ($1,980)

As of today, the sale information of the smartphone is not available yet. However, interested users can pre-order the device from April 16 in China.
