Yahoo Messenger will shut down on July 17

Yahoo Messenger is going to shut down on 17th July 2018. Yahoo Messenger is one of the first instant messaging service, It has been around for almost 20 years. The Verizon-owned company that currently runs Yahoo Messenger has announced it.

Company also says that they will come up with New Communication service. Which fits in present trends and can compete with Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp, telegram, etc. However, the company says there is not any replacement for Yahoo messenger right now. But company is experimenting Yahoo Squirrel with very limited users, It is an invite only closed beta app.

The company says

“We know we have many loyal fans who have used Yahoo Messenger since its beginning as one of the first chat apps of its kind. As the communications landscape continues to change over, we’re focusing on building and introducing new, exciting communications tools that better fit consumer needs.” 

The main reason of Shut down Yahoo Messenger is the growing demand of social networks and mobile messaging. People migrated from Yahoo Messenger to fb Messenger, Whatsapp, snapchat,telegram, etc. Although company says that the they will be coming up with some thing new. But now we can say that an era has come to an end.
