Facebook Messenger brings new AR features for Business

Yesterday at Facebook’s annual F8 conference, the social giant announced a number of new features heading to their platforms. Such as video calling on Instagram and the new Oculus Go VR which retails for only $199. Further, Facebook also announced new AR features for business on Messenger. This will allow users to somewhat experience a product before buying it.

This new addition will allow brands to integrate their AR effects in Messenger’s camera. As of now, Facebook is testing this feature in closed beta with some partners including ASUS, KIA, Nike, and Sephora.

Until now, businesses or brands could only have conversations using bots on Facebook Messenger. But, that will change once this new AR feature goes official. Businesses will be able to add their products to the Messenger camera in the form of AR filters. Thus, users could experience the product at the comfort of their home or office. Also, users will have options to save the picture or video to their gallery, share them in a conversation and even add them to their story.

Along with this, Facebook is also adding new translation feature to the Messenger. For example, if a user is receiving messages of a business in another language, the Messenger’s M bot will translate them to the user’s default language.
