LG Recorded 14.5 Million Smartphone Shipments In Q2 2014

LG has made a self record of shipping 14.5 Million smartphones in Q2 2014. Company has posted 165% increase in its net profit in Q2 2014 of KRW 412 billion (USD $399.8 million), from an operating profit of KRW 606 billion (USD $588.5 million), an increase of 26.5 percent year-over-year.

Despite record, it’s not surprising, we were looking for similar results as LG has done pretty well in the Mobile markets by introducing high end devices this year. Also the profit constitutes the earnings from LG’s home entertainment field.

If we particularly, look at the Mobile decision then it sold 14.5 Million smartphones which is 20% more than the same quarter last year. Here are few figures of the financial report from LG Mobile Communication:

  • Sales revenue increased – 16 percent over the same period last year
  • Total Revenue Increased KRW 3.62 trillion (USD $3.51 billion)
  • the highest figure since the first quarter of 2010.
  • Operating profit of KRW 85.9 billion (USD $83.4 million)

Strong growth in LG’s mobile sector has been attributed to strong demand for LTE enabled handsets, which account for more than one third of all LG smartphones sold so far this year.
