OnePlus starts rolling out software update for OnePlus 5 to fix 911 reboot bug

Earlier this week, several OnePlus 5 users reported that the handset reboots when they tried dialing 911. It seemed to be quite a major issue for the newly launched OnePlus 5.

OnePlus soon reacted to the situation and released a statement saying “We have been in touch with the customer and have tested a software update that has resolved the issue. We will be rolling out the software update shortly.”

Meanwhile, the 911 bug has not affected all OnePlus 5 devices, and is limited to some of the users, the critical importance of being able to call 911 cannot be ignored.

Thankfully, the company has resolved the issue in a timely manner and the update has started rolling out to the affected users. The update to Oxygen OS 4.5.6 is just 32 MB in size and brings a hot fix that addresses the issue.

If you are experiencing this issue and your OnePlus 5 device reboots every time you try calling 911, you must be receiving this update shortly. We advise you to download the update as soon as it arrives for your device. However, if you don’t receive a notification, check for the update by heading to Settings > System Updates.
