Xiaomi Smart Band 8 launched with a longer battery, and improved display

Xiaomi has launched its latest fitness band, the Mi Band 8, which comes with significant upgrades in terms of display, battery, and design. The company has also introduced an NFC variant of the band, as we leaked a while ago. Further, it confirms the design we published via NRRA Korea and the leaks regarding the design have also been confirmed.

Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Launch – Specifications and Features

The Mi Band 8 comes with a 1.62 inches AMOLED screen with a resolution of 192 x 490 pixels and a screen brightness of up to 600nits. The screen is covered with 2.5D tempered glass and it further supports automatic brightness adjustment. The main body of the band weighs about 27g, including the wrist strap, and measures 48*22.5*10.99 mm. The band’s shell material is PC, and the cover material is 2.5D tempered glass.

A quick-release strap mechanism is introduced in the latest iteration of the Xiaomi Smart Band 8, ditching the pill shape design which surrounds it from the sides. Further, the use cases have increased from simply a wearable to a pendant and a sensor that sticks to your shoelace for better running measurements.

The Mi Band 8 has an optical heart rate and blood oxygen sensor, a six-axis motion sensor, and is waterproof up to 5ATM. The band also comes with a vibration motor and a 190mAh lithium-ion polymer battery that supports fast charging, with a charging time of about one hour. The wristband length is adjustable between 135-210mm, and the wrist strap material is TPU.

 The wearable now supports 150+ sports modes, including walking, running, cycling, weightlifting, swimming, and more. The fitness tracker packs Interactive Boxing Mode. It is capable of measuring stress levels and VO2 Max.

The band supports Bluetooth 5.1 and comes with a rotor motor. The Mi Band 8 also supports simplified Chinese, traditional Chinese, and English as its system language. The band is compatible with Android 6.0 or iOS 12.0 and above and can be paired with the Xiaomi Sports Health app.

Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Pricing and Availability

Sure, the standard variant of the Mi Band 8 is priced at 249 Yuan (approximately $37.35 USD or Rs. 2,975 INR), and the NFC variant is priced at 299 Yuan (approximately $44.85 USD or Rs. 3,575 INR) in China. During the early bird sale, there is a discount of 10 Yuan on the standard variant and 20 Yuan on the NFC variant, which is around $1.50 USD (or Rs. 120 INR) and $3.00 USD (or Rs. 240 INR), respectively.

There are no availability details for the global launch, but we expect the Xiaomi band 8 launch in other markets soon.
