Android 11 is now rolling out to the LG Velvet 5G

As per the update roadmap, LG is updating its eligible devices to the latest Android 11 version. Interestingly, the company has rolled out the Android 11 update to the LG Velvet 5G smartphone before its release date. The update carries the firmware number G900UM20a, and it also fuels the February 2021 Security Patch. As of today, the new update is currently limited to Canadian markets only. Nonetheless, it will be released shortly in other regions too.

The release note or changelog of this update is currently unavailable. However, as it is an Android 11 update, we can expect significant new features like Full Article, Notification history, Chat bubbles, Media controls, Permissions, and others. It also revamps the user interface to the new and improved one. Apart from these, we can also expect bug fixes, improvements, etc.

The OTA update should be available the right way to a few selected users as it needs to be verified. Nevertheless, it will reach all the users within a week. As always, the update can be checked manually by heading to Settings>Software updates. Moreover, the smartphone will also receive the Android 12 update as it was launched with Android 10.

LG Velvet 5G Specifications

LG launched the Velvet 5G smartphone in 2019 with a 6.8-inch P-OLED display, triple rear camera, 16-MP single front camera, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G (7 nm). The device is available in 6GB RAM & 128GB Storage model and 8GB RAM & 128GB Storage variant. The phone has been introduced with Android 10 and a 4,300 mAh battery.
