Google Pixel and Nexus Devices March Security Patch is available for Download

Google is rolling out Android security patch for the month of March on its Pixel and Nexus devices. All the OTA Files and factory images are available online to download (see the source link below). The update packs with bug fixes and security updates for the Smartphone.

All the updates on Pixel phones are based on Android 8.1 Oreo. And the update carries the single build i.e. OPM1.171019.021. The 16 issues resolved in the March security patch. Vulnerabilities range from high to critical, with the most severe relating to the media framework and possibly permitting a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code through a “crafted file.” .

Moreover, the update lists 43 security fixes and 3 functional updates. The functional updates for the Pixel’s are listed below.

  • Improve screen wake performance with fingerprint unlock (Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL)
  • Improve audio performance when recording video (Pixel 2 XL)
  • Improve crash reporting (Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL)

Note: if you’re flashing update manually it will erase your data. However, Google has already starts OTA Roll out of this update. So we suggest you to wait for the OTA.
