Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016) starts getting January Security Patch

Samsung starts rolling out Android Security patch for the month of January on Galaxy J5 (2016). Though its March now but Galaxy J5 (2016) is 2 years old device. The update comes with Firmware version J510FNXXS2BRA2.

The update is 25 MB in size, Which includes the January Security Patch along with some improvements in the performance. Although we did not have the full change log of the update. But Samsung provide fixes to the well-known Specter and Meltdown leaks into the software. The patch includes 91 fixes that Google released this month for the Android operating system. It also includes 13 Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) in the company’s own software.

As you know the update is rolling out as OTA. So it might take some time to reach each and every user. In meantime you can also check the update manually by going through the settings>>about phone>>software updates. Note: We suggest you to charge your device up to at least 65% for smooth installation of the update. Also, you can switch to WiFi networks if you have any issues or limit on your carrier network. It will let you to save additional costs from carrier on your data limit.
