Subway Surfers becomes the first game to reach 1 billion downloads on the Play Store

Subway Surfers is one of the world’s most popular mobile game and has become a cult icon. Now, the developers behind the game Kiloo and SYBO has achieved something that has never happened before. The Subway Surfers becomes the first Android game to reach 1 billion downloads on the Play Store.

Subways Surfers first hit the Play Store in May 2012 and since then it has been a massive hit. This game along with Temple Run paved a way for the number of endless running games we have now. Though it is nearly six years since its availability on Android, the number of downloads doesn’t seem to be decreasing. In 2017 itself, the game was downloaded 400 million times combined both on Android and iOS. Which is more than 330 and 350 million downloads in 2016 and 2015 respectively.

This is what Jacob Møller, CEO of Kiloo had to say about his team’s biggest achievement –

We are thrilled to be the biggest game in the world on the Google Play platform. Surpassing 1 billion downloads is a historic accomplishment. In this case, history was written by a talented team of developers and a fantastic collaboration between SYBO and Killo.

If you used to kill time playing Subway Surfers, you might want to do the same again on the occasion of 1 billion downloads. Get it from the Play Store now. And don’t forget to comment your Subway Surfers experience below.
