Android 4.2 Coming With Multi-User Accounts, Parental Controls And Much More

These days much more rumors and details of Nexus Device is leaking out from Android Police side. Earlier they pulled out Gmail 4.2 app but lately pulled download links due to Google intervention. After some leaks regarding Nexus device and now they are sharing news about Android 4.2 which is claimed to be announced at October 29 event by Google.

According to details revealed by AP there will be changes for the Gallery and Camera apps, which will receive new icons, and UI improvements you can see in the picture above, which is not the final graphical state of the app. Account-specific parental controls will also be supported, allowing the lock down of Play Store purchases or limiting downloads based on content ratings. There’s also implementation of multi-user support, allowing you to create several user accounts but about this feature we are not sure.

Other things like functionality etc will remain same as that of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean:

The Gallery is getting a reskin! It’s still a rough work in progress, but we can at least see what direction they’re going in. Albums have a polaroid-style bottom white label (which matches the new icon!) and the background is a light-gray color [see left screenshot in the image above]. Everything else about the Gallery is exactly the same. And when I say exactly the same I mean exactly the same. You can’t delete Picasa/G+ photos, there are no new editing options, you still can’t rotate with a gesture, and Instant Upload Albums are still capped at 500. In its defense, it isn’t anywhere near finished – in fact, they haven’t even incremented the version number. 1.1.40000 is the same as the Jelly Bean version. It’s promising that they’re looking at it.

As usual, the first users that will enjoy the new firmware update will be the owners of the nexus devices, with ASUS Nexus 7,  Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S in the first wave of updates.
