To everyone’s surprise, at CES 2020, Coolpad unveils Legacy 5G, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765-powered 5G ready smartphone for the masses at an affordable price tag of $400. It will be the cheapest 5G phone in the US when it will be officially launched sometime later this year. It is worth noting that this device is also the first 5G smartphone from the company.
Coolpad Legacy 5G Specifications
The Coolpad Legacy 5G is unlike any other smartphone available in the US. It brings better value, in addition to the 5G support for the asking price. As mentioned earlier, it is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 chipset paired with 4G RAM and 64GB of UFS 2.1 storage. Also, there’s a microSD card slot to further expand the storage and a beloved 3.5mm headphone jack is located at the top of the device. On the front, it features a 6.53-inches FHD+ IPS LCD panel with a dew-drop notch and PixelWorks HDR for HDR 10 content.
For optics, the phone sports a dual-camera setup comprising of a 48MP primary sensor and an 8MP sensor with an ultra-wide lens. For selfies and video calls, there is a 16MP shooter nested in the notch of the display. The connectivity options on the phone include 4G, 5G (sub-6GHz: AT&T, T-Mobile & Sprint), CDMA, Bluetooth 5.0, WiFi 5, and dual-frequency GPS but it lacks NFC and dual-SIM capabilities. Other features of the phone include a rear-mounted fingerprint reader, software-based face unlock, and audio tuned by THX® Spatial Audio.
The Legacy 5GÂ by Coolpad runs Android 10 and gets its fuel from a 4,000mAh battery, which supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 18W fast charging standard via USB Type-C port.

The Coolpad Legacy 5G is priced at $400 and will be available in Q2 2020. It can be purchased from the company’s official website, Amazon, and retail outlets across the US.
