EMUI 9.1 and Magic UI 2.1 update with GPU Turbo 3.0 to hit various Huawei and Honor devices


Huawei and Honor have now announced their plan to release the GPU Turbo 3.0 update to more devices within the latest EMUI 9.1 and MagicUI 2.1. The companies have also given the devices that are eligible to get the Turbo 3.0 in due course of time. While the Honor View 20 and the Honor View 20 Lite have received their update with the GPU Turbo 3.0 on-board just recently.

The list of devices, excluding the View 20 Series, as per Huawei and Honor set to receive the GPU Turbo 3.0 soon are listed below.

  • Honor 8X
  • Honor 10
  • Honor Play
  • Honor View10
  • Honor 10 Lite
  • Huawei P30 Lite
  • Huawei P20 Lite
  • Huawei Nova3i
  • Huawei Y9

In case if you don’t know, the GPU Turbo 3.0 was announced as a part of the EMUI 9.1 during the release of Huawei P30 Series. As per the company, GPU Turbo 3.0 cuts down on SoC power consumption by 10% and optimizes “the underlying system performance to provide a continuous gaming experience.  Lately, Huawei has improved the GPU Turbo 3.0 by incorporating support for handful of high-end game such as Fortnite, Real Racing 3, PES 2019, Fifa Mobile, Minecraft, and others. Now with the GPU Turbo 3.0 making its way to more Huawei and Honor devices, users of the above listed devices can wait for it to experience the boost in performance while gaming.

Well, not just the Turbo 3.0, the latest skin of the Huawei/Honor devices – the EMUI 9.1/MagicUI 2.1 brings other major improvements such as support for EROFS file system. EROFS stands for “Extendable Read-Only File System”, which caters an improved compression mode that focuses on performance and speed. Claimed improvements include an increase in random read performance by an average of 20% along with an increase in app start-up speed by 10%. The file system is also said to improve data reading performance in low-memory conditions and other goodies compared to the existing file-systems.
