But surprisingly enough, it’s been now revealed that the Android Oreo 8.1 firmware of the Chinese Redmi Note 5 can be successfully flashed on the device.
It’s quite obvious that the India exclusive Redmi Note 5 Pro ought to get an official major update to the Android Oreo soon. However, those die-hard Mi fans who are restless and eager to taste the Android Oreo on their Note 5 Pro can go ahead and flash the stock firmware of the Chinese model Redmi Note 5.
Since Chinese Redmi Note 5 is a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 5 Pro with no or few differences between them, the firmware inter-compatibility is quite intuitive. In fact, the firmware’s of older Xiaomi phones such as Redmi 2 Prime and Redmi 3S Prime were compatible with their corresponding lite models, Redmi 2 and Redmi 3S.
