Google Maps Update Brings Taxi Service on its Radar; Supports Ola, Hailo, Gett and more car services

Google has updated its Google Maps Android Apps application with some of the most required feature. The new features will make hailing a cab easier and Google has partnered with five ride hailing companies.

This will support fare estimates and pickup times for five more ride-hailing services: 99Taxis in Brazil, Ola Cabs in India, Hailo in the U.K. and Spain, mytaxi in Germany and Spain, and Gett in the U.K. To house the five new offerings, Google Maps is getting a dedicated tab for ride services that will sit beside the existing car, transit, walking, and biking options. Here’s what Google said:

Select a service, and we’ll take you directly to their app for you to book your ride with one tap. When it makes sense, we’ll also show ride service availability when viewing the map in walking and transit directions, and multiple ride services options for each provider—where they exist. For example, if you’re using Uber, starting today, we’ll now show uberX, uberXL and UberBLACK for an easy and quick comparison.

Google says the new integrations will be rolling out first on Android, and “coming very soon” to iOS.

Update your App by heading to Play Store.
