[Update: April 2021 Security Patch] Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017) Update Tracker

Long back in 2017, Samsung introduced the Galaxy J7 Pro (Galaxy J5 (2017)) with a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED display and Exynos 7870 Octa (14 nm) Chipset. The device was official with the Android 7.0 (Nougat) Operating System. Later on, it was updated Android 9.0 (Pie) based One UI Skin. Furthermore, the Galaxy J7 Pro has secured a couple of new updates from its launch.

If we go with other smartphone specs, it features a 13-MP single rear camera and a 13-MP selfie camera. The device comes with 2/3GB of RAM and 16/32GB onboard storage. There’s a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels.

  • (May 12, 2021): The Korean Giant has now begun to send the latest April 2021 Security Patchpdate to the Galaxy J5 (2017) smartphone users. The new update is taking place on the build version J530LKLU7CUD2 and currently rolling out only in South Korea. The April 2021 Security update generally includes 23 fixes from Google and 30 fixes from Samsung.
  • (August 25, 2018): The Android Oreo 8.1 update for the Galaxy J5 (2017) is rolling on the firmware version J530FXXU2BRH5. The update is spinning out in Poland, and it also includes the August 2018 security patch. More details of this update can be found in our dedicated article.
  • (January 29, 2018): Samsung started sending the January Security Patch to the Galaxy J5(2017). It is rolling on the build version J530FXXU2ARA2 and is taking place in Europe. You can find more details about this update in our dedicated article.

The Galaxy J5 (2017) users will receive a notification when the update arrives on their device. To manually check the status, go to Settings>Software updates.
