Vivo unveils Vivo X90 series; X90 Pro Plus becomes first device to sport Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC!

Vivo has finally taken the wraps off of the flagship Vivo X90 series. The series includes Vivo X90, X90 Pro and X90 Pro Plus. The launch took place in China, and an international launch will take place in the coming months. The Vivo X90 Pro + is the first device to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, unveiled last week. The Pro Plus is a camera-centric device from Vivo.

It sports a Samsung E6 6.78 inches AMOLED display with a 3200 x 1440p resolution. The display has a refresh rate of 120Hz and a 300Hz touch sampling rate. The chipset pairs with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB UFS 4.0 storage. It features a primary 50MP Sony IMX989 1-inch sensor with OIS on the optics side. It couples with a 50MP Sony IMX758 telephoto sensor with 2x zoom & fixed focus, a 64MP OmniVision OV64B periscope sensor with 3.5x zoom and a 48MP Sony IMX589 ultra-wide sensor with 114-degree FoV. On the front, it gets a 32MP sensor with an f/2.45 aperture.

Vivo X90 Pro Plus runs on OriginOS 3 based on Android 13. A 4,700mAh battery with 80W wired and 50W wireless fast charging support backs it. The smartphone also features IP68 dust and water resistance, Qualcomm 3D Sonic Max in-display fingerprint sensor and face unlock.

Both smartphones feature the MediaTek Dimensity 9200 chipset. It also features the same 6.78 inches AMOLED display with 2800 x 1260p resolution. The display also has a refresh rate of 120Hz and a 300Hz touch sampling rate. The MediaTek chipset pairs with the same 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB UFS 4.0 storage. Like, the Pro Plus, both devices also run on OriginOS 3 based on Android 13 out of the box. The difference lies in optics between Vivo X90 Pro and X90.

The Vivo X90 Pro features a primary 50MP Sony IMX989 with OIS and a 50MP Sony IMX758 with 2x zoom. These are the same sensors found in Vivo X90 Pro Plus. On the other hand, the vanilla X90 features a primary 50MP Sony IMX866 sensor with OIS and a 50MP telephoto sensor. Both smartphones also feature the same 12MP Sony IMX663 ultra-wide sensor. The front sensor is the same as X90 Pro Plus on both devices.

Vivo X90 Pro is backed by a 4,870mAh battery with 120W wired and 50W wireless fast charging support. The vanilla model gets a 4,810mAh battery with 120W wired fast charging support. Both get support for an Optical in-display fingerprint sensor and face to unlock. The Pro gets IP68 dust and water resistance & IP64 resistance on the standard model.
