Xiaomi Redmi 6 receives MIUI V10.2.4 update with January SMR

Seems the Xiaomi developers in charge of Redmi 6 software development is on overduty in this month. It’s a week ago when the device received a substantial upgrade to MIUI 10.2.2 bringing slight UI improvements and December security patch on-board. Interstingly, a new update is on the air now with the latest January security patch.

The latest MIUI 10.2.4 has started hitting the Indian Redmi 6 units starting from today. We expect the update to be available on other region as well where the device has been officially launched. Nonetheless the update comes in at around 1.2GB in size, of course it’s bulky. The update changelog necessarily disclose not much but the following:

  • Optimized system performance
  • Improved system security and stability

Frankly, it’s really hard to see the changes brought by this bulky update on the naked eyes. The UI elements are same as what we’ve seen after the MIUI 10.2.2 update. Nonetheless, as the changelog says, we can expect considerable improvements in overall system stability and performance.

Highly likely, the similar update should be hitting its younger brother Redmi 6A also, however we’re unable to confirm it as of now. Do let us know if the update is available on the Redmi 6A of you guys in the comment sections.

It’s glad to see, Xiaomi updating its budget devices with the latest features and security patches. Well, let’s wait and see how well Xiaomi can realise the Android Pie dream of the Redmi 6/6A users though.
