Android Phones With 6 GB RAM? Are You Ready?

It was not long before that we saw 1GB RAM as high end spec. Nowadays we have 4 GB RAM as the flagship which is embedded in the Galaxy note 5 which is launched recently at an event. Even 3GB RAM are also used across popular OEMs as highest RAM. But days are not away when we will be having 6 GB RAM on our smartphones.

Samsung has introduced announced the industry’s first 12GB LPDDR4 based on its 20-nanometer process technology. Samsung is quoting that in next couple of years they will be using this technology.

Further they stated that if we use 6 GB chip in present environment then phone

  • is 30% faster
  • consumes 20% less energy
  • 50% greater density

So isn’t it a better option? Here’s what company quotes

“In next-generation flagship devices, 6GB of LPDDR4 mobile DRAM will allow consumers to enjoy seamless multitasking and maximum performance within the latest operating system (OS) environments. Also, based on the new 12Gb LPDDR4, the 6GB package can easily fit into the same space used for 3GB LPDDR4 packages currently available, therefore meeting the need for greater design compatibility and manufacturing productivity in advanced mobile devices.”

IF these are things going to happen then what about battery? Will it survive these much of RAM? What do you think?

  1. I think that the battery is the only technology they will keep without any evolution to keep profiting from It, until a new and important technology apper (that will replace battery tech).
